President Trump has been campaigning for an America First worldview. This means that instead of America focusing on international conflicts, it will focus more on internal matters. This worldview can benefit our country, but also cause problems throughout the world. America has a major position as serving as the hegemon in the world that helps manage the international economic system. The consequences of America turning their backs on the world could be highly problematic, economically. I believe that that America should retain its role as global hegemon.

I believe the United States should reject the America First worldview because its economic system seems to rely somewhat on international intuitions. The economy could decline if the U.S stopped focusing on international relations. I do think that if the U.S did embrace this worldview; the world would not be left without a global hegemon. China is growing, and could take on the role. The outcome of China becoming the hegemon may take a while, and may not bring out positive actions. Because America is perfectly capable of continuing its role, I don’t believe it should change.
